World Day of Prayer 2025
On 7th March over 70 people gathered in St Peters Kirkcaldy for a service written by the Christian Women of the Cook Islands. The theme was
taken from Psalm 139 and entitled “I Made You Wonderful”. The service was led by members of local congregations from the town, all wearing
lei, the traditional flower garland given to all visitors to the Cook Islands. The congregation were given paper flowers with their service booklets.
The service consisted of prayers, reflections and stories from three women from the Cook Islands. The music, interspersed throughout the
service, was a mix of hymns written by the Cook Island women and traditional hymns. The World Day of Prayer Hymn “The Day Thou Gavest
Lord is Ended” was sung at the conclusion and it was wonderful to have the church filled with the glorious sound of voices raised in song.
The 2026 service, written by the women of Nigeria, will be held in Kirkcaldy Congregational Church on 6th March, and a lighted candle was
presented from the Rector of St Peter’s as 2025 hosts to the Revd Lynn Robertson, Minister, as a symbol of passing the baton to the next host
church.
After the service the congregation continued fellowship in the hall with refreshments provided and served by St Peters. It was lovely to hear the
happy chatter as people enjoyed tea/coffee and cake.
My sincere thanks to all from St Peter’s who made the 2025 service possible.
Christine Fraser, Rector
Patronal Festival
We celebrated our Patronal Festival on Sunday 29th June. The Very Revd Dr Stephen Holmes, the Provost of St Ninian’s Cathedral,
Perth, gave the sermon and it was a delight to meet him and his family. After the service we all moved into the Hall and everyone
enjoyed the buffet lunch.
Passing of Richard Ouston - 31st August 2025
Richard’s life was one of curiosity, adventure and love. Born in Stanmore, Middlesex, on 16th
September 1937, he grew up in Edgware with his parents, sister and brother. A bright student
with a mind for problem-solving, he went on to study engineering in London — the start of a
career that would take him far and wide.
During his late 20’s Richard was introduced into what was soon to become a life service and
dedication to The Freemasonry.
From his early days at De Havilland to his time working as a Aircraft Engineer on the Ark Royal in
Singapore, Richard embraced life with energy and commitment. Returning to the UK, he worked
with Smith & Nephew, always bringing dedication and integrity to his profession. Beyond his
career, Richard was a proud father of two and, later in life, found a deep passion for supporting
others through the Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) charity, where he joined the board in 2009.
It was through this work that Richard met Jeeta. They married in 2011 and built a happy life
together in East Wemyss, surrounded by family, friends and community.
His faith was always important to Richard and in latter years, he worked as the Church magazine
editor for St Peters Church, a role which he was very proud of and thourghly enjoyed.
Richard will be remembered not just for his achievements, but for his warmth, generosity, and the
way he quietly touched the lives of those around him.
